Omni Swings n' Things 536 Yucatan Mayan Hammock, Festive Multicolor Stripe Review
I lived for two years on the Yucatan peninsula and slept in nothing but these hammocks. I personally think that if you sleep in them right they are more comfortable than beds! There's a trick to sleeping or resting in them -- you don't lie in them like a regular hammock (you'd feel like a banana!)... you lie in them diagonally, and if you get it right you won't even need a pillow.
The larger hammocks will let you fit two people comfortably (lying diagonally of course), and they even make good baby swings (wrap the sides up to get some space between the threads, then clasp them up at the top).
I have six hammocks made by the locals in Merida, but if you get one of these you'll not regret it.

Omni Swings n' Things 536 Yucatan Mayan Hammock, Festive Multicolor Stripe Overview
Though most of the products of the Mayan civilization are lost, the Mayan hammock lives on today. The Mayan hammock is possibly the highest achievement in hammock design. Unchallenged as the most comfortable of all the hammocks.
Omni Swings n' Things 536 Yucatan Mayan Hammock, Festive Multicolor Stripe Specifications
Mayan hammocks are considered the most comfortable in the world. A miracle of craftsmanship, this unique two-person bed is 7 feet and 2 inches long by a whopping 12 feet wide and is made up of more than 2 miles of fine cotton cord strung over hundreds of strong white nylon arm strings--a construction that is capable of supporting more than 1,000 pounds. And that's hardly the impressive part. The parade of color on this hammock spans fuchsia, red, fiery orange, sky blue, black, white, and the greenest of greens: a display as delightful as the floating feeling you'll get when you rest on it. Our only caution? When you first open the package you'll probably be overwhelmed by the thousands of tiny strings that look like one daunting tangle. Before hanging, spread the bed out straight on the ground, then pick up one handle at a time and shake gently. The strings should fall out neatly, and you'll be ready to float in style.
